Rotor

Rotor was raised in the Switchbacks, the steep western slope where the Couriers' Guild has run mail for as long as anyone can remember. She trained under the old Turbine system — a layered relay where each runner passed messages down a chain — until last spring, when she designed a single-layer fan-out that delivered every message to every recipient in one downhill pass.

The Guild voted to adopt her method. The older Turbines lost their routes. Some have not forgiven her. She does not blame them, but she does not slow down for them either.

She is twenty-three. She is the fastest Courier alive. She knows it.
